Kimura Shukokai International (KSI) World Tournament,

Over 500 black belts from 20 member countries will compete for gold, silver, and broze medals. Event is held once every two years. Hosting countries are determined by lottery.

Additional Information:

  • Event Sponsor: Kimura Shukokai International (KSI), the world-wide governing body of Kimura Shukokai karate style representing over 20 countries and roughly 20,000 students. 
  • Hosting Country Organization: American Shukokai Karate Union (ASKU), representing dojos practicing Kimura Shukokai karate since 1984. The ASKU is run by Shihan Bill Bressaw, 8th Dan.
  • Leadership of KSI: After the death of Master Kimura in 1995, KSI was formed to continue his legacy world-wide. This organization is run by Master Kimura's top four chief instructors. They are: Shihan Bill Bressaw of the USA, Eddie Daniels of Great Britain, Chris Thompson of South Africa (South), and Lional Marinus of South Africa (North).
  • Events: The KSI World Tournament will comprise of two days of eliminations (July 10 and 11) and one day of finals (July 12). Events will include indivual kata (forms), team kata (syncronized forms with a team of three people), kumite (sparring), and team kumite (teams of at least three people sparring in matches). Competitors are placed in divisions based on gender, age (10 years old and up), and weight.
